“After working with Kim I feel like myself again. I feel in control of my body and I'm not afraid of food.”

-IBD Patient

"After being diagnosed with colitis I never thought I'd be able to live a normal life again. I was severely restricting my eating and had anxiety about socializing and being out in the world. But after working with Kim I feel like myself again. I feel in control of my body and I'm not afraid of food. The knowledge and understanding that Kim has shared throughout our sessions is literally priceless.

Thank you Kim for all that you do and for helping me get my life back!"

“Our initial response to nutritional therapy has been excellent and we hope to have continued success.”

-Parents of an IBD Warrior

"We are a 2 physician family with a young daughter who was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease last year.

We came to Kim Braly Nutrition looking for guidance on dietary interventions and management options for our daughter. We had multiple visits with Kim with initial consultations focusing on the pathophysiology and nutritional considerations of Crohn's Disease. Careful considerations were made with respect to what dietary interventions made sense for our clinical situation as well as our family. Together, we chose to purse a Crohn's Disease Exclusion Diet and through the course of the following months, Kim helped guide us through the stages of this intensive intervention.

Honestly, we could not have accomplished what we did without her guidance, trouble-shooting, focused recommendations, and education regarding CDED. We were very happy with the nutritional education, dietary intervention, and meal plans that Kim's program offered us.

Our initial response to nutritional therapy has been excellent and we hope to have continued success in our IBD journey."

“I enjoy and appreciate meals now more than I ever did before, and I feel and sleep better than I did in my previous life before becoming sick.”

-MC Patient

"I had struggled for the past two years with chronic diarrhea and dramatic weight loss and was finally diagnosed with Microscopic Colitis. I was prescribed Budesonide, which successfully alleviated symptoms for a short time, but I could not maintain my health when the steroids were discontinued.

Before working with Kim, I was eating a ridiculously restricted diet or not eating at all to escape the tyranny of the bathroom. Kim eased me into easy-to-follow food recommendations, and over a few months, I started to recover my health just by eating delicious and satisfying food while tapering off my steroid. I learned much about label reading and selecting the best brands for my condition. I would never have learned most of that information just stumbling around the internet. There is no cure, but there is remission, and I learned a new way of eating that does not restrict my social life and gives me the energy I need with only minor tweaks and additions. I enjoy and appreciate meals now more than I ever did before, and I feel and sleep better than I did in my previous life before becoming sick. There is very little help generally for people with MC. It's a forgotten disease, but I highly recommend Kim's assistance in finding an individualized recovery path back to health."

“Kim's services were absolutely essential to my success with SCD, and to my healing.”

– Jessica B., Patient

"After being diagnosed with colitis, I knew I wanted to try to treat my symptoms naturally, via diet and nutrition, before turning to medication. It was my good fortune to find Kim only a few days after I was diagnosed. Kim's services were absolutely essential to my success with SCD, and to my healing.

Kim is smart, caring, and quick to respond to questions; she will be an invaluable ally as you navigate the world of nutrition to promote wellness.

Working with Kim, I felt like I was in the hands of a trusted friend; we have even shared some good laughs!

If you are looking for expertise and guidance, from a person who genuinely cares about your well-being, Kim is your person. I cannot recommend Kim highly enough!

“Kim truly saved us”

– Rocco and Lisa, Parents

“We could never thank Kim enough for all she has done for our family. Our daughter was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at 15 years old after suffering from iron-deficiency anemia for about 3 years. She did not have many symptoms other than typical anemia symptoms such as fatigue and being underweight. She was active, athletic and happy, and we were definitely surprised by the diagnosis of Crohn’s disease. Her CRP and calprotectin levels were quite high, and an endoscopy/colonoscopy and MRE confirmed the diagnosis.

Much to the disappointment of the many pediatric GI doctors we consulted, we decided to give nutritional therapy a try. Living on the east coast, however, that is easier said than done. We embarked on the SCD (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) pretty much on our own. We did ok with cutting out SCD illegal food, but we had no idea how to incorporate a wide range of foods, how to make sure our daughter was meeting all of her nutritional needs, and how to make sure her microbiome was balanced and varied. We cooked and cooked, but our daughter ended up having a very limited and boring diet.

From the first meeting with Kim, we knew she was the piece of the puzzle we were missing. We weren’t alone any longer. She has helped us create a well-balanced diet for our daughter that is both delicious and nutritious. Through virtual visits and chats, she guides us every step of the way in adding in a variety of foods, providing us with recipes and meal plans, and giving us suggestions for SCD legal products. She always provides us with the latest news/information related to IBD. She collaborates with our new pediatric GI, and she is right there with us as we track the improvement in our daughter’s labs and vitamin/mineral levels.

As a family, we are all eating a more balanced and healthier diet thanks to all we’ve learned. Most importantly, our daughter is so comfortable with Kim and so thankful that we found her. Kim truly saved us.”

“Kim’s work is groundbreaking. I'm in remission.”

– Anthony K, Patient

“I’ve been working with Kim for 3 months now to treat my mild/moderate ulcerative colitis (UC) using the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD). She is absolutely amazing! Kim is a personable, dedicated, and responsive world-class registered dietician, with specialized expertise and experience treating digestive disorders and diseases. I feel very fortunate to be able to benefit from the unique and exclusive knowledge Kim gained while pioneering SCD research and dietary treatment plans for young IBD patients alongside the well-known Dr. David Suskind (GI) at the renowned Seattle Children’s Hospital. Kim continues to be part of groundbreaking SCD research. I wanted to consult the best-in-the-business, and after studying Kim’s work online on the SCD and digestive disorders, I knew I had found one of the foremost and leading experts in the field. This is a sentiment that was later re-confirmed after having worked with her.

Communicating with Kim through video-conferencing is very natural, seamless, and effective. She puts me at ease and is so easy to talk to. She listens actively, seeking to understand my personal history, context and goals; is flexible in her approach; and provides clear, concise, and tailored recommendations. Her visit summaries are well written and extremely helpful. I refer back to them constantly. Her use of the Healthie app/website, where she posts visit summaries, meal plans, recipes, feedback on my daily meal choices, etc, is a one-stop-shop treasure trove of valuable information that I consult daily. In addition, Kim’s attentiveness and timely responsiveness by way of follow-up question and answer emails is exceptional.

Results of working with Kim speak for themselves. Thanks to Kim’s dietary treatment plan and ongoing support, I am able to limit medication to the mildest dose of Pentasa (1 mg), am in remission, and am symptom-free, with calprotectin inflammation markers going from 100 to 13 in a few months! We have also progressively started me on the modified SCD diet. I feel very privileged and truly blessed to be working with Kim, who has been instrumental in keeping me healthy so that I can be the best Dad I can be for my beloved son. Kim truly cares, which is clearly evident through her deep commitment and close support. With UC being a life-long disease, I plan to work with Kim well into the future. I would not trust my dietary treatment regimen to anyone else. Heartfelt thanks Kim.”

“Knowledgeable, communicative and kind”

– JC, Parent

“Kim Braly is the most knowledgeable, best informed and kindest nutritionist with whom we have ever worked. Our daughter has a serious inflammatory bowel disease, and she is on a special, highly restrictive diet (SCD – specific carbohydrate). For our daughter’s health, it is imperative that she strictly adhere to this dietary plan. Kim has been invaluable in helping us determine what to feed our daughter; including the variety of foods she should be eating, ingredients that are and are not SCD-safe and tasty recipes to try. Kim has the very best “bedside manner,” and always responds to us promptly, both via her website and texts. For us, a nutritionist is more than someone to help us eat better – it is someone on whom we depend to help keep our daughter healthy and safe. We can’t imagine finding a more knowledgeable, communicative and kinder nutritionist than Kim Braly…period!”

“Kim was right there with us, caring for our child.”

– Anna H, Parent

“When we started seeing Kim as our dietician we were just beginning the process of home blended tube feeding. Although our previous dietician had been supportive of our decision to switch from ready made formula I felt a little lost on what to do and how to begin. Kim was a huge source of information and support! Not only did she guide us as we began a new way of feeding our child she also pointed us to resources that helped build our understanding of what our child’s needs were nutritionally. What I found most impressive about Kim was that I felt she was helping me in the care of my child rather than simply telling me what to do. She guided, educated and encouraged us through that process and when the time came to begin weaning from the feeding tube she was right there with us. I know that my daughter’s current health and good eating habits are in great part to Kim’s diverse knowledge along with her incredible support.”

“Coming back from a rocky start.”

Andreas Q, Patient

“My journey with Crohn’s disease has been a rocky one to start. Being undiagnosed for years, I didn’t realize how malnourished I had become and how my growth was stunted as a result. As a competitive swimmer, my active Crohn’s disease left me tired and unable to practice and compete. As a young teen, I was unable to concentrate on schoolwork and often missed school due to gastrointestinal symptoms. I navigated through various treatment plans and I was eventually presented with a dietary option. Without a change in medication, my family embarked on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) with Kim Braly. She closely monitored my diet, nutrition labs, and weight, offering suggestions to improve my caloric, vitamin, and mineral intake. My inflammation markers were significantly reduced and normalized. I was able to fully participate in competitive swimming and was able to break my personal best records and then some. This eventually led my Crohn’s disease status to “remission on medication” and was able to forgo medication for a period of time while having normal inflammation levels. I now eat a modified SCD with some starches included in my diet. I continue to apply what I’ve learned about nutrition and have been able to figure out my food triggers.”

“My son has maintained his remission for 5 years.”

– Ingrid E, Parent

“My son’s diagnosis of Crohn’s disease was a shock. I just remember being in a fog, but when I heard from his GI doc that dietary therapy was an option, we thought why not try that first? The meds will always be there. And this was something I could do to help my son. Of course, the Specific Carbohydrate diet required a lifestyle adjustment, and we had to take care with everything Avi ate. Kim was with us every step of the way, offering encouragement, guidance and knowledge. She educated us on how to start the diet, she gave us recipes and tips, and she made sure Avi had foods he would enjoy. She paid special attention to the emotional and sensory aspects of food, making sure he had special treats for special occasions and that “salty crunch” he craved. With Kim’s help, Avi got his Crohn’s into remission with 5 months of dietary therapy. He’s maintained that for 5 years.”
